Transformable table
Kitchen wall system
In my apartment located in "Øgaderne" Aarhus, we needed a kitchen table for sharing meal and precious memories. Due to the limited space of the narrow corridor to the kitchen, i decided to double its function as a shelf system when the table was not in use - allowing for easy passage when traffic is high in the circulative areas.
Fabrication and assembly
The frame is made of 3,5x1,5mm welded pipe steel and coated with black metallic paint. The main cantilever penetrates the existing brick wall and mounts with a simple end-surface nut & bolt joint to a 5x1mm flat steel. The shelf and table tops are made of Nyatoh wood, with an natural cold-pressed oil treatment - mimicking the other surfaces of the apartment.
